What is a security in design mailbox? It is one which has security and safety of mail at the very core of it’s design compliant with European Norm EN13724. This EN standard is in itself the cornerstone of a police initiative aimed at the construction industry to design out crime in the built environment.
In brief terms, the police initiative has set out guidelines for specifiers and developers in a text referred to as Homes Guide (latest version 2023) and suggests that the specified post boxes meet the following criteria to comply with their requirements:
* Be of robust construction
* A maximum aperture height of 40mm
* Have anti-fishing properties
* Have fire resistance where deemed necessary
* Installed in accordance with manufacturers specification
* Located in view, within a secure area at the primary building entrance point / exit point.
